I hold a Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) teaching certificate – now The Level 3 Award in Education and Training (RQF), allowing me to teach adult learners and I have a current clean DBS check

Previous Work

Swan Housing - Young Mothers/Fathers (Cook & Eat Sessions)

I was employed by Swan Housing to help some of their residents (young mothers) learn to cook and to identify healthy options. The cookery course consisted of a 3hr session where I taught Smoothies, Soups, Pasta Dishes, Brown Rice Dishes, Salads and Healthy Desserts, and Healthy Eating.

Benefits: Learners learned basic cooking skills and confidence with food and the difference between healthy and unhealthy foods.

Swan Housing - Residents Group (Cook & Eat Sessions)

I hosted 2 healthy eating days for Swan Housing where I demonstrated 3 healthy dishes, such as a Lentil Soup, a Brown Rice and Pasta Dish and offered a discussion about health and wellbeing with a Q&A session.

Swan Housing - Somali Group (Cook & Eat Nutrition Sessions)

After discovering a large number of their Somali residents were suffering from nutrition related illnesses, I was employed by Swan Housing to teach health and wellbeing, and how to cook healthier. I ran a number of 6-week cook and eat sessions that covered soups, vegetarian & pulse dishes, using healthy proteins & brown rice, healthy pasta dishes & cakes. This proved so popular with the residents that I ran two more, one of which was filmed that can be watched here

Benefits: Learners understood how to cook healthier food and how to use less of the harmful ingredients in their own cuisine, such as saturated fats.
